How Important Is Christian TV in Your Community?

The need for the Gospel

How strong is the need for the Gospel? How important is clean television for your community? Would you be glad to have Christian TV available 24 hours a day?

CTN Big Bend is THE local Christian TV station for Tallahassee and Thomasville.

The challenge of technology

I know that people are catching videos on their laptops and phones, but the stats show that they are not throwing away the TV. Most people are doing both things – watching TV and surfing the web on a device, at the same time.

Many people turn on the TV to “wind down.” As a matter of fact, the average household has a TV on for 5 hours every day. That means a great opportunity for the Gospel. Many people have testified that they found Salvation through a chance encounter with a Christian ministry on TV.

Much of the technology has come down in price. That’s good news in some ways, but as innovations enter the market, a TV station needs to keep up as well as possible.

Here it comes.

At CTN Big Bend TV, we need your help. We are currently seeing a deficit in partner donations and our operation costs.  Oh, did I mention? – We need your help.

We are a viewer supported ministry. We are here to help you grow closer to God through Christian teaching and worship programs.

The opportunity of the ages

Now, we can reach out to people with a combination of local and worldwide ministries. We can partner together for the good of our community as well as the world. We can bring the very Word of God through Christian programs and Church services.

Will you help make a difference in someone’s life?

Memorial Day

Do we observe Memorial Day?

When I was younger (and smaller) I don’t remember celebrating Memorial day very much. I think I always got a day off school. In the summer movie season, Memorial Day starts it off. Get ready for Dwayne “The Rock” to kick some… kicking places and to jump from a crane to an open window. Get ready for Tom Cruise, at age 55, to get beat up and run over, and still get the bad guy.

But lately, it seems that there are some good Memorial Day PSAs, TV ads, radio spots, etc. I am glad. I did not realize the sacrifice that we honor this day. And it has always been in my face, yet, until years ago, I was blind to it.

My father lost his two brothers to WWII. One died. One came back and eventually died from his damage. What do we do with this? No wonder my Grandma used to practically squeeze my Charmin out whenever I would sit with her and listen to her stories. If I would have been able to recognize her grief, I would have probably offered up myself for more squeezing.

We have been in a perpetual war for really a couple decades now.

Why can’t we win this? I believe I know, but that is for another day. However, we understand war, we understand heroes because our sons, daughters, Moms, dads, and co-workers are actively making this same kind of sacrifice that Grandpa did. We had a little peace there… whether you like it or not, the face I can put on it is Ronald Reagan. Could it be that he understood the evils of war and knew how to keep us out of it?

OK. So I must say “Thank You” to that funny guy for keeping me out of war. I must thank my uncles and my friends, and all who stand in front of the danger that wants to make it to my doorstep – but it does not.

Thank you to everyone who gave their own life for mine and for my family members’ lives. You are the friends who have shown a Christ-like example. You cared. You committed. I cannot let myself ever forget.

May you rest in peace. Thank you deeply.

Note: Please list the special people in your life who have given their lives in service to you and your country.

Here: this might be a goo way to get your children started young.

Finding Tallahassee Christian Programs Designed to Help Youth

Helping Tallahassee’s Youth

In today’s society, it seems as if many of our youths are having difficulties at home and at school.

There are a number of different reasons for these problems, but many devoted Christians believe it is due to a lack of support and faith. If you are one of those individuals, you may want to consider donating your time or at least your money to help the youths of Tallahassee in need.

When it comes to helping youths in need, you may want to examine Christian youth organizations.

Christian youth organizations are ones that focus on helping youths and youths alone. These types of organizations and programs are nice, as many place most of their focus on adults. It is important to remember that if America’s youth, especially those in need, aren’t reached at an early age, you may simply end up helping them out later on in life.

As you likely already know, Christian youth programs come in a number of different formats.

For instance, there are a number of youth programs that operate on the local level, as well as those that operate nationally and online. While there are a number of benefits to using the internet to reach out to youths in need, as you are often able to reach more individuals, you should also know that there are a number of benefits to first focusing on your local community. These benefits may include a reduction in violence or an increase in graduation rates or an increase in the number of students who attend college.

When looking to donate your time, your money, or other goods to a local Christian youth program, you may first want to examine all of your options.

For starters, you may want to speak with your local churches, as many run youth related programs. These programs may be summer programs or even weekly programs. Many churches need volunteers to serve as mentors or chaperones for trips. You may also see a need for donated supplies, such as school supplies, craft supplies, or sports equipment.

Even if your local churches do not run or operate their own Christian youth programs, they may be able to help point you in the direction of other programs and organizations that do need your assistance.

This is most commonly seen with youth establishments, also commonly referred to as youth centers. In towns and cities all across America, youth centers are increasing in popularity, as they are in great need. If you have a nearby youth center, even if that center does not have a direct Christian link, you may want to offer your services. In addition to volunteering much needed money or supplies, you can offer to teach Christianity classes.

When examining a number of different local Christian youth programs and organizations, it is important to choose the one or ones that can benefit the children the most.

This is important, as you will want to make sure that your donations are put to good use. On the other hand, if you are looking to volunteer, you may want to offer your services to programs or organizations that may be struggling. Many times, a fresh set of eyes and new ideas are needed. Without the proper amount of help, many Christian youth programs would have to shut down. This is an event that could be dangerous and possibly even deadly for many of today’s youths.

Here’s what I need you to do.

Free Book Friday – The Founding Conservatives

History For The Taking

Thank you to those who have shared our Free Book Friday posts. Keep up the good work.

This is just a simple way to give to the community and, in the process, get the word out that we are here in Tallahassee.

The Free Book Friday prize this week is:

The Founding Conservatives By David Lefer

The founding conservatives book

Here’s a little blurby thing from Amazon:

“According to most versions of history, America’s founders were united in their moderate political philosophy. But in fact the Revolution was nearly derailed by extremists who wanted to transform the entire society. If not for a small circle of conservatives who kept radicalism in check and promoted capitalism, a strong military, and the preservation of tradition, our country would be vastly different today.

…David Lefer provides an insightful and gripping account of the birth of American conservatism and its effect on the earliest days of our nation.”

So, whether you are getting over your last tea party or you just got back from putting your John Hancock on a check to the powdered wig society, this is so worth the read.

What’ya gotta do? Just let me know your favorite patriot below. And that can be wide open, in the sense that you can pick the era. Just know that ridiculous answers like “Mr. Ed” will be accidentally deleted.

Let’s hear it for the patriots! What’ya got? Enter below for a chance to win.

I leave you, my friend with this awesome interview with the big daddy, the author himself.

Even If They All Like You

i peter 1:24

What if you got all the Facebook likers to like you?

Sooner or later, your eyes will dim. Your grass will wither.

Have you ever had a close friend who turned on you in a heartbeat? Did you replay moments in your life, to try to figure it out? What happened? What did you say?

I got to tell you, sometimes there’s nothing you can do to predict. Sure, we are fallible. We are, as they say, “human.” But a true friend ought to stick a little closer.

Fame is indeed like a fleet enema. It washes away, sometimes in a whoosh.

The esteem of man can be a boost, but it never lasts, not for anyone, especially on the internet. The esteem of our true Father in Heaven is what counts. With His favor comes advantages that no mere mortal can hold.

Thank you Savior for placing your pure righteousness on me. Otherwise I would not stand in the judgement. As my deeds and my hair flies away like the withered plants of the field, my the legacy be that of the Master, my Savior.

You are loved.

No amount of “likes” on a web site can equal to just one “love” from the Creator of all. It’s His Book that you and I need to be listed in. Let us serve each other in charity and grace and realize that we will never convince the whole world to like us.

Have a blessed week, and keep serving Him.

Q & A with Christian Fitness

Introducing Christian Fitness on Big Bend CTN TV

What was that spark of passion that got you started in producing Christian Fitness?

We had several pastor friends that were not able to completely fulfill the call of God on their lives because they weren’t physically able to do so. They wanted to do so much more for God but they lacked the physical stamina to do so. One of them asked if we could help them to get into better shape and from there we realized that instead of doing a personal training session, we should tape it and encourage all Christians to participate.

What encourages you to keep producing?

We are continually encouraged to produce new shows by the viewers. We receive phone calls, letters, emails and even in person comments asking for more help.

Can you give me some quotes as a testimonial from  viewers?

“We praise God for your ministry”.

“I just wanted to let you know how much your teaching Philippians 4:8 blessed me today.  A reminder of how I need to watch what I think and I am the one who has to change it.  May God continue to Bless and Prosper you.

“I just wanted to say “thank you” for the wonderful show!  It is exactly what I’ve been looking for.  I tape the show and exercise while the kids are still sleeping in the morning.  The verses, nutrition tips….everything is wonderful.  I look forward to working out.
Thank you and May the Lord bless you!”

“My 14 year-old daughter, Rachael, and I exercised along with you today.  We did the workout using the bands.  Those squats got each our breathing rates up!”

“It is wonderful how God has gifted you with such a creative way to minister to people both physically and spiritually.”

“Bless the LORD, O my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name!!!  May He richly bless you and your ministry as well.”

“I wanted to write and say that your program is such a blessing. I just discovered your program not too long ago and started using it. It is awesome! I have a 16 year old son who is autistic and I homeschool him. Physical Education has ALWAYS been a struggle for him, he doesn’t enjoy it and he has some trouble following the movements required for fitness. Well I started him doing your program with me daily. He gets a great workout, he actually enjoyed it and your Bible verses help me to have a topic for our discussions about God and the Bible! I ask that God blesses you all and please do NOT ever take your program off the air! To God’s glory you are helping my son so much and it makes him more self confident and more able to reach out to others…Jesus Bless You… “

Theme verse?

Answer:  Our theme verse has always been III John 1:2

“Beloved I pray that in all things you may prosper, and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”

We love this verse because it is about the spiritual growth and relationship with Jesus (soul prospering), and is also a prayer and declaration that all aspects of life, including physical health. Be prosperous.

How can we connect with Christian Fitness?

Have you ever asked your pastor why he doesn’t broadcast on local TV and Cable?

Do you wish you could share your worship services with your neighbor, your co-worker, your Aunt?

Does someone record the church sermons on video?

If so, we can help you to get your pastor’s sermons on the air. It is a simple process that we can walk you through.

Are there costs? Yes, we have to pay for airtime and programming, so we would naturally need to ask for help in that. But overall, it can come from something as simple as a coffee can n the back of the sanctuary, or a separate offering collection. There are several ways to ask the congregation to help reach out to the community.

Simply call 850-402-1116 and Paul, will help you get started.

If you want to see your pastor’s sermons on TV, we can make it happen.

Free Book Friday Strikes Again

writing from left to right

This should be an interesting read. If you are as old as me, you would recognize the author as being one of the most popular liberal commentators. However, something changed – namely him.

He became a conservative.

Read this account of the transformation. Many leftists are moving right  these days. Why is this? Well, it is good to hear this first hand account from the award winning journalist Michael Novak himself.
